He's Back

Yup, me and Frosty still chillin.

If you haven't been here in the last 3 weeks, you probably didn't hear about Frosty and me.  I think Hubby may be getting suspicious.  

I colored him up with Copics and framed him in this beautiful Spellbinder Die, The Poinsettia spray is from Memory Box and the small Holly die is from Marianne Dies. This time I chose to enter him in Power Poppy's challenge Power Poppy Challenge - Time to Rewind - Bits & Pieces.

Linda S. commented on the Frosty I colored on Kraft paper.  I couldn't follow a link back to a blog, so I hope she stops back. Linda wanted to know if I had any tips on coloring on Kraft paper.  

The paper was some cheap Kraft paper that I bought long ago and it was not very smooth. I used Prisma Scholar pencils.  I have a few Derwent and I think I almost like them better, but only have a few. In large areas I color lightly holding the pencil at an angle and build up the color. In a smaller area like the snow on his harms, I hold the pencil a less of an angle and use more pressure. Frosty was colored with cream an the snow on the arms is done with white. 

Linda also wanted to know why I switched to Tombow makers on the die cuts. I tried the pencils, but didn't like the way they looked with the embossed edges.

Melting My Heart

I think I've mentioned I have a crush on Frosty.

 I thought I would try something different and use my Prisma pencils on craft card stock.  I love how this turned our and I'm already rummaging up more craft paper and planning my next card.

When Power Power sent an email previewing this image, I could hardly wait to make him mine.

Frosty was framed with Memory Box Stitched Square Layers.  All the dies used here are from Memory Box: Star of Wonder, Beloved Stars and Small Poinsettia.

I did color the stars and the Poinsettia spray with Tombow makers but everything else was done with Prisma pencils.

Power Poppy has a challenge right now to choose a past challenge.  I chose Time to rewind - Pencil Me In. 

Front Door

One of the things I love about my Silhouette Cameo is the ability to size the cuts.  I really liked this Stampin Up stamp, but felt it was just to small by itself, but too large for the dies. The solution was to use the Silhouette to make a big door and a lamp post to go with it.

The Affair

I've had a love affair with Frosty for too many years to count.  He comes around every snowfall, but I have to admit I been known to make a Winter card with his image on a hot summer day.

So when in an email from Power Poppy previewed Frosty in a Black Friday sale, I could hardly wait to bring him home in my cart. He just melts my heart.

I chose to place him on a Step Card.  He kind of took up most of the front of the card.

The step card was cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

I did a little stippling with Copic Opaque White to give Frosty a little texture, then I colored him and his little bird with Copic markers. And to give the accumulated snow on his arms and hat a lttle dimension, I used 3D Crystal paint.  I mounted the image with a Spellbinders die.  To the left of Frosty I used a portion of Memory Box's Flowering Christmas Tree and embellished with blue jewels. The flourish at the top is Die-namics die and the embossing on the sides is Cuttlebugs Swiss Dots embossing folder. On the bottom fold is another Memory Box die, Grand Merry Christmas.

I'm in for the Power Poppy's November Challenge and hoping for a win. Oh, how I long to be "Ramdom" and win a Power Poppy stamp set.

Christmas Angel

Iowa had it's first meaningful snowfall last Friday. Sioux City got about 6", but today the sun is shining and I'm enjoying the upper 40's temperatures.

This beautiful Mo Manning image seems not to mind the snow flurries.

I cut the frame with my Silhouette Cameo and sandwiched a piece of acetate between layers.

The image was colored with Copic Markers.  I mounted it with a Spellbinder oval and Spellbinder's Oval Regalia die. I added some liquid pearls for the snow.

Winter Scene

Here in northwest Iowa we have enjoyed a beautiful Fall.  It seems we can be in Winter denial until that first accumulation of snow.  I do not like snow.  When it falls, it is beautiful for a day or two, then it gets dirty and ugly.  Still, some of my favorite cards are of Winter scenes.

If anyone has every seen Northwoods cards on display at a craft store, you will see them covered with glitter.  They are really stunning.  I made one feeble attempt to use the glue and glitter. I would really love to attend a workshop. Just the same, this stamp is also beautiful without the glitter.

I used an umber cardstock and a Spellbinder die frame the image. Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut that luscious leafy dark brown frame. Cheery Lynn die cuts embellish the corners using the same cream colored cardstock as the card base.  The image was colored with Copics and a Wink of Stella highlights the icy brook.

Sweetness

A Day for Daisies has the sweetest images.  I posted this a couple months ago at Splitcoast Stampers. 

For some reason cards posted on Splitcoast don't make it to my blog and vise versa. There must be some hidden meaning in this? 

I colored the image with Copics and used (2) Spellbinder dies and (1) oval Die-namics die.

Pumpkin Love

I love Fall and pumpkin pie.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to print and cut this pretty pumpkin.. With my Copic markers, I colored the QKR image using the no line technique.  The dark gray corrugated paper makes a striking backdrop for the pretty fall colors. I used cream colored card stock for the base of the card and gave the leaves on the bottom a touch of Wink of Stella.

I am entering this in qkr-stampede-challenge-163-harvest. and I can see already the competition is entering some awesome cards. 

Record Breaking

Yup another Halloween card!   This makes a whopping grand total of 2.

I cut the QKR image out with my Silhouette Cameo.  I cut the pumpkin separately and popped it up with some dimensional dots.  The corn stalks are also cut from my Silhouette .Those crystal looking domes were in my stash of stickers.  I used one to cover up some extra glue, thought it was pretty cool, so I scattered them around.

Sweet Witch

Halloween is not my thing, but this digital stamp was too sweet to resist.

I found her on Etsy, Molly Harrison Art.  She was colored with Copics and cut with a Memory Box stitched die.  I then mounted the image on some Basic Grey paper that I've had forever.  The little pumpkin in the lower right is a dimensional sticker and the branch on the left is a another Memory Box Die.

I'll enter this in QKR's 162-halloween Challenge.

October Blessings

Iowa has been blessed with an awesome October.  The weather has been fabulous! What's even better is that I get to enjoy it.  I am retired and although I had really nice office, I did not have a window. I can't tell you how many times I went to work the dark and came home in the dark.  Sometimes I would be happily working along all day only to be surprised to find several inches of snow I had been clueless about.  No more scraping windows in freezing cold and 30 mi. hr. winds.

Well, I got off topic a bit. Here is my card.

The Memory Box frame was cut with a dark brown cardstock, but I could not get it to photo anything but black.  This is the first time I've ever shopped at From the Heart. I found a lot of really nice digital stamps and even purchased a few more.

Hey Friend

With my silhouette Cameo I am able to bring in any digital image and arrange it on the cut lines, print it then make the cut. 

I really love how this turned out.  The image I used is Power Poppy's Gerbera Daisies.
I colored the daisies with Prisma pencils and added pearls to the centers. I used a portion of a Sizzix embossing folder on the lid and added a white bow from Paper Studio.

The Joy of Fall

Fall is my favorite season.  The leaves turning beautiful shades of orange, green, and red. An early morning chill and leaving the doors and windows open all day just energizes me.

This little guy expresses how I feel today.

This is a QKR Stampede image which I colored with Copics. I fussy cut some of the leaves and the shoes then popped them up with foam dots. oN the leaves I used Wink of Stella.  The bow in the corner is from Paper Studio, but I don't remember where I got the little wood bird in the top corner. I used Memory Box Stitched Square Layers to cut and layer the image with dark green cardstock.  I think the DP is Graphic 45.

It's On!

I made a Christmas card.  There's no stopping me now.  I want to do Christmas cards all day, every day.  

While looking through Pinterest, I came across a beautiful print by Janet Stever.  It reminded me of this Stampendous stamp, but it didn't have any background. You can check my inspiration out here.

I love this guy and his pals.  I used my new favorite die Memory Box Stitched Square Layers, then mounted with paper from K&Company then again with some dark brown card stock.

The corners were done with a Cheery Lynn die and the bow in the corner is from Paper Studio.

For the Love of Sunflowers

I just love sunflowers.  Leave the roses with the florist and bring me a sunflower.

Now I resisted this pretty stamp, until Power Poppy had a 24 hr. sale.  And of course, I fell in love and their pretty cone flower jumped in my cart with the sunflower.

I opened the digi in MS word and used the sepia format to print it.  I then scanned the word document and imported into my Silhouette Cameo to make a perfect cut file.  I know that's a few too many steps for most, but it's now in my library for future use.  And I will definitely use it again!

The sunflower was colored with Copics and Prisma Brush markers. I also cut and colored one petal to fall away from the bloom.  The image is mounted on paper from K&Company which was die cut with Memory Box's Stitched Square Layers. The gingham is from Simple Stories. The card is framed with a Martha Stewart punch.

This is a digi that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

I was able to trace it, then copy and flip the outline to make the shaped card.

It was luck that I had black pearls for his eyes.  I ran his body and ears thru a Stampin Up embossing folder. The "Love" tag was cut separately and popped up with dimensional foam. I trimmed his mane out with Stickles.

Fussy Chic

Those of you that know me, know I rarely use those pretty papers and I don't layer very well.
I hope this (barely) qualifies as "Shabby Chic".  I really wanted to enter the Power Poppy Shabby Chic challenge.  I have the lace, the pearls, the flowers and butterflies.  I don't have the layers of pretty papers or ribbon, but I do really like how this turned out.

My new printer allows me to print on thin watercolor paper and I've rediscover how fun it is to paint.  I fussed over this for a couple of hours and decided I needed to quit before I ruined it.

Brag a Little

I've had this Mo Manning image for quite some time now.  The image was colored with Copics. I drew in the ticking with a blue Micron 05 pen. The background was shaded with Prisma Pencils.  I used a Memory Box die to frame the image and mounted it with some pretty gingham paper from Authientique. I am entering my card in Mos Digital Challenge-Anything-Goes,

This guy is a more recent and the digi captured him perfectly. Yup, I  pretty proud Grandma.  I have two granddaughters and one grandson and I am super proud of them all.

Reinking

This was for a Splitcoast challenge using reinkers. This is my second attempt using Tim Holt's ink pads.  I haven't done too much water coloring lately, but I think I prefer watercolor products.

The Stamp I used was Stampendous Trop Garden. The sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink.
I love different shaped cards so I used a Spellbinder Grand die.

Yikes!

I really love the Power Poppy challenges, but this one had me a bit nervous. They want 3 different papers on the card. They don't know how paper challenged I am! The only thing that I fear more is card sketches.  If every thing isn't centered, I start to twitch.

I found (3) papers in my small stash and this is what I came up with.

Inside

I've had this Gladiola for quite some time, but this is the first time I've made a card with it. The Glads were colored with Copics.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to fussy cut the flowers and the "Joy" from the sentiment.  

I will have to be careful not to over-do the use of this Spellbinder die. I just love making cards with it. Same goes for those tiny little bows from The Paper Studio.

Girls Gone Fishing

Would you believe, I have never gone fishing? Never, gone hiking, camped out or even have a desire to do any of these activities.  Don't like bugs, sweating, the cold or sleeping on the ground.  Give me
AC, internet, take out and the theater.  Now that's a vacation.

I made this for Splicoast Challenge F4A273. The theme was "Sand Between My Toes". I intermediately thought of this digi from Phindy's Place.  Phindy's  Place is no longer in business.

Question.  Is is acceptable to share digi's from companies that have gone out of business? So many are no longer around and of course those are the digi's I really want.

Laughing Geraniums

The past week has been so good for the soul.  We've had some glorious sunshine with temperatures hovering around 70 deg.  We've had a couple of days with much needed rain showers. The truth is, I love a good rain almost as much as the sunshine. Throw in a little thunder and I just feel exhilarated! (God's angles bowling, you know.)

 Everything has turned a lush green and the lilacs have bloomed. We should be seeing some Geraniums soon. Life is good.

I don't know how I missed posting this.  You may not have noticed but it is still Winter, so I guess the card is still relevant.

This is Cuddly Buddly's Winter Wonderland clear stamp set. I colored the background with copics and pencils .  The deer were colored with Copics, fussy-cut and placed on top of the the snow covered landscape.  the embossing folder is from Sizzix.
